Hey folks! Pre-orders are early purchases of a book that get fulfilled on the publication date, in my case July 11. Pre-orders ship out first and a copy is guaranteed if the first printing order sells out.
Pre-orders help authors by helping create a buzz for the book, maybe getting it labeled as a “hot seller.” That results in better placement on book-selling websites and convinces booksellers to stock more of the book, even before it’s released.
AMAZON: Most booksellers calculate pre-orders on the release date. But Amazon records pre-orders on the day of purchase, rather than on release day, and they set their rankings on the first week or so of sales. So, if you’re going to order from Amazon, it helps me if you’ll order on July 11 or the following week.
