Event Details

EarthX kicks off on Earth Day, April 22 with North Texas Day. The panel discussions held in the Topaz Room are free! (Other stages and days in EarthX will have the usual admission fee.)

Leaving a Legacy: Volunteers Bringing the Land Back runs from 2:20 to 2:40 pm in the Topaz Room of Hilton Anatole, 2201 N Stemmons Fwy in Dallas.

North Texas is not widely known for its nature. This brisk informative, and beautifully illustrated talk intends to change that.

<> Amy Martin, author of Wild DFW: Explore the Amazing Nature Around Dallas-Fort Worth, enthralls with sumptuous photos of the area’s wild places and insightful passages from the book about its ecology and natural assets, while noting the broad community of volunteer nature stewards who make these places sing.

<> Rebecca Posten, president of North Texas Master Naturalists, dazzles with stats about the number of volunteers and hours contributed by NTMN, the wide array of projects the chapter tackle, and its commitment to diversity

<> Kristi Kerr puts a personal face on that discussing her work with the Ned and Genie Fritz Texas Buckeye Trail and Bonton community, noting that Ned and Genie are honorary NTMNs with a long-time connection to the EarthX founder.

<> Amy wraps it up paying heed to NTMN’s colleagues in the greater nature steward community: NPSOT, NPAT, Audubon, Sierra, TCA, and more, and making a plea for more governmental and nonprofit support for preserving wild spaces in our cities.
